Six years ago the world was ending. Or at least it felt that way.
The pandemic hit hard. I sat down at my desk anyway. Decided to talk. Just talk.
I covered random stuff. The kinds of things I couldn’t stop thinking about. Assumed someone else out there thought they were interesting too.
You were right.
Welcome to the sixth birthday of Everything Everywhere Daily.
The vast majority of podcasts die before episode seven.
Most fade into static. I don’t have the stats for how many shows hit two thousand episodes or last six years, but it’s a tiny club. We are here.
Before I dive into your voices, let’s look at the machine.
One year ago? It was just me. A one-man show in every sense. Now things look different.
Joel and Oliva joined the ranks. They handle research. They write. They have literally carried weight off my shoulders.
Thank you. Truly.
The numbers look good. Past year? Sixty million downloads. Number one on the history charts in fifty-one countries.
Success buys time. Finally got room to breathe and work on other things. Announcing a few now.
New Stuff
First, merchandise exists.
Go to shop.everything-everywhere.com.
Yeah, I know. Better late than never. The store is bare right now. T-shirts. Mugs. Standard logo fare. But designs for the Completionist Club are cooking. Expect them in a couple weeks.
Got a better idea for a shirt? Send it.
Updates happen here, on the Facebook group, and in the Discord. Links are in the notes.
Second news. An ad-free feed is coming. Soon. Really soon.
Wanted it ready for today. Apple gave me hell about it. Technical headaches. But we are close.
Cost? $3.99 a month. Works out to 13 cents per episode if you do the math.
Start with new episodes only. I need time to upload the past two thousand. You want to speedrun the entire history of the show? You will have to wait a few months. Apple imposes a 2,000 episode limit anyway. Nothing I can do about that hard cap.
Everything Everywhere Weekly goes to the Apple Sub feed too. Along with Patreon.
Your Favorites
Here is where it gets fun.
I asked for voice messages. Wanted to hear your favorite episodes.
Thought someone would mention the Napoleon episode. Or maybe the one about ants.
Turns out, every single listener has a different favorite.
No two voices agreed. That is wild.
Most worked. Had to toss a few bad recordings. Edited a couple that went on way too long. But otherwise? Every one of them.
This episode runs longer than usual. A walk down memory lane. For those who stayed.
Starting with some familiar faces:
